Kursovoy Screen
Moscow, Russia

Philip Michael Brown Studio was recently invited by Swanke Hayden Connell Architects in New York to collaborate on the design of an art feature / facade screen for their Kursovoy project, a high-end residential building in Moscow near the Kremlin. The generative idea for the base geometry of the screen is an abstraction of section cuts through Malachite, a crystalline mineral indigenous to remote areas of Russia, specifically the Ural mountains. The screen is 5.0M x 20.0M and is segmented into 4 5.0M x 5.0M sections. The screen is conceived to be constructed in aluminum.
